Fr. David Fox, O.Carm, RIP
news: 5 May 2026

Fr. David Fox, O.Carm was Shrine Director at the Shrine of Saint Jude for several years. He wrote at the start of his time there…:
“The Provincial and his Council have decided to combine some jobs in Faversham and looked around to find an unsuspecting innocent to [take on the role]. To my great surprise, I was plucked from our inner-city parish in South London and appointed to the new job. And that is how I come to be sitting in Fr. Maguire’s place writing this letter to you in the pouring rain in July in Faversham. The weather map in my atlas shows this as the part of Britain with the highest sunshine level. It just shows that you cannot believe everything you see in print.”
In 1987, he shared this poem called ‘Wait On’:
‘Wait On’
“To talk with God,
No breath is lost –
Talk on!
To walk with God,
No strength is lost –
Walk on!
To wait on God,
No time is lost –
Wait on!”
