Summer Celebration – thank you

Thank you to all the friends who came to see us yesterday for the Summer Celebration!

It was a wonderful sunny day filled with hope and joy. After the Procession, we were able to start the seventieth anniversary celebrations by cutting a cake!

Many thanks to all our volunteers who came to help; to the Prior Provincial, Fr Brendan Grady, O.Carm for leading the day and celebrating Mass; to our Chaplain, Br. Paul de Groot, O.Carm for all he did during the day (and before and after!); and to Mr. John Toryusen for all the sound, music, photos and help.

Thanks too to Nic, Charlotte, Michelle, Rebecca in the Shrine Office team for all they did in the run up, during and afterwards.

Fr. Brendan opened with this beautiful prayer, which we include below, so we can all reflect on it:

My dear friends,
It is good for us to be here
to ask God’s blessing at the Shrine of Saint Jude.
May this place continue to be filled with the spirit of prayer
and, through the intercession of St. Jude –
kinsman of Jesus, his faithful apostle and willing martyr –
may the pilgrims who come to honour his memory
know God’s healing presence and compassion
in their deepest need.
Through Christ Our Lord.

Saint Jude, pray for us!
