The relic of Saint Thomas Becket has recently been loaned to the British Museum for their first major exhibition about the medieval martyr.

The exhibition will display a wide range of the surviving objects from the crime scene and tell the grim tale of his sudden death.

The Shrine of Saint Jude is based in Faversham. In the middle ages and after the martyrdom of Becket, the town became an important stopping off point along the the pilgrimage route to Canterbury. We are rightly proud in the 21st century – when we can once again be open – to be a stopping off point for many of the pilgrims that are on their way to Canterbury.
