Long-standing friends of Saint Jude will be aware that periodically, following a Carmelite Provincial Chapter, changes sometimes happen. We are delighted to announce that, after a request by the Carmelites, Kevin Melody, O.Carm. has been appointed by Archbishop John Wilson as our parish priest from 1st November 2021.

Kevin joined the Carmelite Order in 1996 and was ordained to ministerial priesthood in 2003. Having had previous experience of being a parish priest in Walworth, London and in Acomb, York, Kevin comes to our parish with many gifts that will enable him to be a good parish priest here and a real asset to the area. Until recently Kevin was Catholic chaplain to the University of York. We look forward to welcoming him and sharing the life of our parish community with him.

Following consultation with each of them, Tony O’Donnell and Brendan Grady – all currently members of the Faversham Carmelite community – will be joining the friars of the Aylesford community during the week beginning 8th November. Richard Copsey will remain in Faversham. He and Kevin Melody will be joined by Brother Paul de Groot (currently at Aylesford). Please pray for each of them as they adjust to their new communities.
