Pilgrims welcome
news: 6 May 2026
The Shrine of Saint Jude has prided itself as a centre of pilgrimage since 1955. Pilgrimages from all over the country (and world) visit our shrine most weeks and will often be welcomed here by the Shrine Chaplain, Br. Paul de Groot, O.Carm and the Carmelite community, plus other members of the Shrine Office team. The team enables pilgrims to visit the Information Centre and Garden of Hope as well as provide an opportunity to celebrate Mass (either with a Carmelite friar or with their own priest).
Recently we were able to welcome the Saint Alphonsa Mission Sunday School at Southend-on-Sea in Essex. The Headteacher, Nice Jose sent the following feedback:

“On behalf of our group of catechism teachers, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and generous support extended to us during our visit to the Shrine of Saint Jude on Saturday, 25th April 2026.
We are especially thankful for granting us permission to celebrate the Holy Mass in the Syro-Malabar rite. It was a deeply meaningful and spiritually enriching experience for all of us. We also greatly appreciate your kindness in allowing us to use the kitchen and hall for our lunch, which made our gathering comfortable and well-organised.
What touched us most was the friendly and accommodating approach of everyone we encountered at the [Shrine Information] Centre. Your hospitality truly made our visit memorable and uplifting. Please convey our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making the arrangements for us. We will keep you all in our prayers and hope to visit again in the future. With gratitude and prayers.”
If you would like to attend the Shrine of Saint Jude on pilgrimage, please visit our special page here or come and join us on 30 May 2026 for our Summer Celebration. All sorts of pilgrims visit us and you are all welcome.
